Today I struggled..

Very little went right all day...

And on the way home the train was only 4 carriages long during rush-hour, it stopped way too long at the signals, and 2 men a few feet away from me threatened to fight each other because one had pushed himself onto an already crammed train and everybody was totally squashed...

I took a deep breath and looked at my pictures I saved on my phone yesterday...

My OH had asked me why I put them in envelope-type frames, and I had said it was cos they're sending me love when I most need it...

I swear when I looked around the train carriage this evening, i was the only person there that was smiling...

Thanks to these babes...

I'm so grateful to have my 4 piggies (and my wannabe-piggie).

I love them so much. They can even make me smile when i'm far away! :luv:

What a great post! I often do the same when I am away and travelling for work. It takes you away from where you are, to a much better place.

Sounds like an awful journey. Your furry  family are always their to make you smile

I often do this as well , especially when I can feel a panic attack coming on , they keep you grounded and you know they need you  I try and take a couple of photos a day on my phone so that I know what they look like that morning if you know what I mean and at every chance I always think ' I need this job to keep them' and that always cheers me up even though I may be having an awful day the thought of scooping them up at home for a cuddle gives me strength

Thanks for the kind comments, i definitely love having my photos on my phone with me of my piggies (and wannabe piggie :)) ) for moments like that...

I live in SouthEast London on the Kent boundary & work in central London and the train service is so poor this is a fairly average journey, and usually takes between 1-2hrs depending on all the equipment actually being able to function.

Everyone gets so stressed as its too crowded and overheated, to be honest if we were animals I think the RSPCA would have prosecuted our train companies by now! Though my travelcard costs £178.60 per month for this wonderful experience...

I've heard some pretty scary (but comical afterwards) announcements before, like the time we were very crowded and the train broke down and they was driving us backwards to the previous station to turf us all off. Then the driver told us in a very calm and reassuring voice not to worry at all about the presence of paramedics & fire brigade at the platform when we arrived because "they're only there because the doors are busted and might open and cause someone to accidentally fall onto the track" - i must say that the people who were leaning against the busted doors at the time didn't look all that reassured after his announcement though...

But I try not to be too negative in life (because you never know when you might lean on a busted door :yikes:) so the photos and thought of getting home to my pets keeps me smiling.

Other things I do to distract myself is i'm trying to learn a new language (Italian) using a CD & Book course, or i try to find 1 positive story in the free newspapers (which I then take home & recycle by lining my piggies cage with it - i think newspapers are safe for guinea pigs as they can't read them :D), or i try to do a meditation exercise, or I play games on my phone.

I believe that every little bit of positive energy in life counts really, so do my best to try and be a happy commuter. So if i see someone who is disabled, elderly, pregnant, carrying heavy stuff, i give up my seat if i'm lucky enough to possess one.

It always amazes me the lengths people will go through to actually get or keep a seat. Some people seem content to literally trample over another person just to 'win' a seat. And one time a lady asked somebody to move and let her sit down as she was pregnant, and the man actually replied to her; "well i'm not your husband" which I thought was amazingly selfish, to the point that I decided to intervene and remind him that he was small and vulnerable and inside a ladies tummy once so should show a bit more respect!
:gp:

But enough about my train ramblings, having commuted for over 20yrs I could probably write a novel if i keep going, so i'll be glad tomorrow is Friday and i'm off this weekend and i'll shut up and get back to looking at gorgeous piggies  :luv:
