I was considering making and selling c&c cages. Does anyone think this would be a good idea ? Or do you think people would prefer to get the materials and do it ?
I was thinking £55 for a 2 by 4
and £65 for a 2 by 5
What would you think of the price ?
Any comments welcome, good or bad!
Thank You :)

I think a lot of people would think it was a great idea if they felt they couldnt make them or had the time to. I certainly would if I hadnt of had one just built from wood. Great idea

I haven't got a c&c cage so can't advise on price but I do think having all the bits together in one place to buy from would be good for people who don't have time to trawl through lots of websites to get each piece :)

What would you do about delivery charges etc?

I think its a great idea. There is a place in the US that sells packs to do small medium and larger, and the extra packs to add upstairs etc! Would have been perfect for me as I want a C&C cage for my girls, but am unsure about where to get everything from and also impatient!

It would have to be local to start with, collection or local Man and van delivery charges on top.
Will look further into it tho. Just running the idea past people first!

Mee to, I want everything yesterday lol also the Cavy Cages in the US dont deliver to the UK yet

Would you include everything ? Like pre-scored Correx ? Grids, Cable ties ? Optional lids ? I've built mine but if I could've had it done for me .... I might've done it sooner.....

Also, what if people want bespoke sizes or shapes.... would that be an option ? Could they specify correx colour ? thickness (maybe not?) ?

Just things worth considering.... but basically I think its a good idea....

Thank you for your comments

It would be 4mm pre-scored correx (would have to check on colours from the supplier), grids and connectors and cable ties included.
could do 6mm would have to double check price from supplier too.

Where are you based just out of interest as I have a feeling this could be very popular and in high demand.

I think you would need to charge a bit more, the grids/cubes are starting to become expensive & B & Q was the cheapest place, they won't be getting anymore until December :(

For me the worst part of making the cage was scoring the correx so that would be (for me) a big selling point..... (mine is 6 grids or 7 foot long so was quite awkward in a limited space)

I wonder if there might also be a market for the pre scored correx on its own .... the grids on their own etc etc..... eg if someone wants to renew their correx after a while...

Regarding delivery, Ive just bought a set of 26 grids for £35 and the delivery was £8 because of the weight, if that gives you any ideas.

I think pre cut/scored correx is a fab idea because I just ordered mine, and the only place i could find that was cheap, charged me £8 for delivery, they only did next day delivery for some reason and it came rolled up in a humungous tube shape that i struggled to get in the car (i had to delivered to work) then had no where to put when i got home grrrr

That's the company I was on about :) Wish they shipped to the UK (which in turn means that someone making a company like that in the UK would be awesome!).

It's definitely an excellent idea! My mom and I were trying to find a way to do this and couldn't find anything so we had to buy a store-bought one because neither of us have the time to make a C&C cage ourselves. Too bad I'm all the way in America and you're far away otherwise I'd totally be your first customer, hahaha.

I'm interested! Could you do a DIT pack sort of thing? Everything you need in a box and just build it at home?

hi, if you are going to sell them, i would be happy to by one! :)

I'm going to have to look into the delivery side of things and costs etc first but fingers crossed ! My email address is [email protected] if you want to email me your contact details and then I can get in touch with you as soon as I'm up and running, Thanks, Kim.

Thats a shame, but if you ever move to the uk, lol, let me know - ha ha :)

i think this would be a fab idea! i really like the sounds of them, but wouldnt know where to start with making one! :(

I think it's a great idea, I had thought of doing it but with whole cage set's like tunnel's and cageliners snuggle sacks etc all matching and cage design and planning, also it would be nice to direct people who see my cage somwhere easy rather than saying you get this from there and that from here. It took me age's to find the stuff for C&C s so it would save alot of time and money for people

Are you the same lady that currently makes the cage liners ? I was hoping I could co work with someone to make the liners, For example I would recommend and vice versa ? Don't know if this is something you'd be interested in ? Just one of my many ideas, lol!
I really want to get this up and running ! Just hope I can put all my ideas into practice!
