What are the benefits of grain free nuggets? I feed these simply because i hear they are better for my pigs, but i dont actually know why.
Ever since i fed these and gave cystease, she stopped having pink urineGrain free diets can help pigs prone to obesity, bladder issues and problems with diabetes.
yea I'm sticking with it too now. I have had my 7 month old guinea pig on it since i had himLower calcium, lower calorie, and I think easier to digest as they are mostly hay- and Wiebke suggested we keep bloaty Puggle grain free, so I am definitely going to stick with that!
No i would never feed them muesli. Ive heard its a very old food used to fatten guinea pigs up ready to be sold to eat.Do you mean the muesli type food? I know with this there is mostly ‘junk food’ in it which they tend to eat and leave the small amount of nutritious stuff. Wagg is terrible for this...
What about vit d for indoor guinea pigsCavies wouldn’t naturally eat cereals- pellets were first invented to fatten pigs for the guinea meat trade. When you think about it if they have hay, veg, fresh grass pellets are not really essential. I feed them though as when we go away for a night or two I know they’re getting their vitamin C.
Also not getting direct sun lightVery good point! Hardly any in plants so must be added to indoor piggy diet.
That’s a real case for getting them outside during the summer, supplements will never be as good as the real thing (sun). Also not getting direct sun light
