I just took Little Bear from his cage to clean up. I set him on the floor and he twisted up and fell to the side and basically seemed to have a seizure? but he wasn't shaking but he couldn't move and his eyes closed. He just laid on his side and I'm not sure, curled up and struggled to move at all.

Given his suspected age I thought he might die but it lasted maybe fifteen seconds and then he was back to normal.

I'm thinking maybe I scared him too much somehow?

He does have cataracts and he has a head tilt and sometimes he walks in circles. He was abandoned in October and I just put his brother down for heart failure.

We have a Monday vet appt already. I have to work til Monday. I do work at a vet myself but we aren't a small animal clinic by any means. If it happens again before then we will get to the vet sooner.

I due to adopt a new friend for him in a few weeks also.

He's acting normal this morning. I want to see if we can get him to the vet sooner tho.

Little Bear had another episode when I got him out to go to the vet. He fell to the side and started convulsing a lot harder and his legs were kicking. Lasted maybe ten seconds and back to normal. He didn't have one at the vet. The vet says everything is great (heart, teeth, etc) and that we should be fine adopting a new friend. Maybe stress/neuro related? He didn't have this happen before Bruin was pts. I'm not as worried anymore since he goes back to normal after. Basically just watch him for now.

Ok, we’ll he sounds stressed and if his buddy just died sad and grieving (yes guinea pigs grieve) and if the vet said he’s good I would think they’re probably right. However if it happens again try and take a video to show the vet so they can see what is going on.

Yeah sadly my phone was just out of reach yesterday to take a vid. He was convulsing harder than the first time so I was holding him so he wouldn't hurt himself. He just won't leave the cage til we get a new friend. Sadly the rescue is only open Saturdays and I won't have one off work til Dec 26. I am trying to get off earlier.

Oh no! Well keep trying to get a video, because that sounds really scary.

Guinea pigs with neurological problems (head tilt etc) become disorientated when lifted up and put back down. I think this could be what is happening. Please lift him very carefully and hold him gently, when you place him down and wait, while he gets his balance, before moving your hand away.

Would this also be the case if he is running around/having zoomies? He just ran around his cage and then dropped over and had another seizure. He's back to normal now. He does have quite the head tilt.

He had another seizure in his cage this morning, altho as far as I'm aware he wasn't running around. I was cleaning my other boys' cage and looked over to see him convulsing on his back. Some people suggested guinea pig mange but he isn't itchy at all and his skin/fur looks good. Not sure if the vet could prescribe meds or if we should just let life happen. He went right back to normal and started eating pellets immediately afterwards.

Please get him to the vet as soon as. Exaggerate the symptoms if it helps you get an appointment sooner rather than later. Good luck.

He already went to the vet on the 5th (a few days after the seizures started) and they gave him a clean bill of health, saying the seizures could be neuro or old age. Basically just to watch him. I debated taking him to another small animal clinic, but paying $100 for an exam isn't very appealing right now.

So to update his last seizure was Dec 13. We adopted his new brother Dec 26. Little Bear hasn't had any more seizures. I think the seizures were stress related to losing Bruin, his first brother, in November.
