When buying Hamish only on Sunday I of course was silly enough to have bought a brand new cage for him...only if I am to get myself a rescue to pair with him...it's far far too small.
I feel it's wise to keep the smaller one incase of emergencies at a later date, but I need to find a cheap way of getting a new indoor cage large enough for two boars.

Anyone have one to sell me relatively cheaply or know where the best place I can get them is?

Why am I always so unprepared when I think I am? -_-;

A flatmate told me about freecycle today - I only just figured it out! So I've posted up a 'wanted' add in there. I have looked on preloved but so far the one that seemed suitable was pretty expensive >.<
I wish I hadn't bought the smaller one now...would have saved myself a good bit of cash!

Ack...silly girl grrrr

Thank you for your advice! I hope freecycle bodes me well!

I got this cage after a tip from Weibke

It's REALLY good value for money. I put it on a stand but you could equally put it on a table.

It opens from the top and the side.

We did this to the cage

To give it upstairs which we are now using for all food and downstairs for sleeping and running about.

I would definitely keep the smaller one like you say you may need to quarantine or something one day.

I'm so pleased you are getting a pal for Hamish. Good for you!

Oh I came across that in my hunting! But I thought the messurements were too small...but if you deffinately reccomend it for two boars then it will certainly go on my 'wish list' :(|)

Cheers so much! I am very excited for this, I hope my chats with Thistle Cavies results in a rescue ^^

I have the same cage for my 2 boars and I've also put in an extra floor to add some space.

They get a couple of hours in the run each evening but I would like them to have a bit more space so we're planning to build a bigger cage in the new year.

It's about 4ft by 2ft. I have 2 ladies living in there so maybe boars could do with something a bit bigger? i don't know about boars at all i'm afraid.

If you have a Costco by you (I know everyone has heard me rave about Costco already hee hee :)) but they have the grids for a C&C cage at a really good price (£10 for 4 cubes or £25 for 16 cubes) and then you could make the cage however you want and change it to suit your needs. Any local signmakers woould sell the correx to make the base or you could use lino.

Just a thought!
