Hello everyone, I didnt get diagnosed by a vet yet, but I'm 99% sure that Cinnamon has scurvy :( I haven't been giving them veggies everyday, like once a week instead. Now she has a big lump in her side and some scabs. I've been giving her some vitamin c powder on a cucumber for the last few days and niw I'm giving them lettuce, a baby carrot, and cucumbers everyday. She still seems alert and still eats and drinks! How do I get the scurvy to go away?!?

Piggies should have fresh vitamin C rich veggies everyday, peppers and herbs like cilantro/coriander are good sources of vitamin C. If you cannot provide fresh veggies daily you could always go pick grass or dandelions for them to provide vitamin C.
Vitamin C deficiency is quite rare in guinea pigs fed the recommended diet and I'm afraid I have not come across a case myself to advise you how well these guinea pigs recover... perhaps @furryfriends (TEAS) or @Wiebke can advise as they have seen more rescue piggies from a background without a good diet? But of course you should see your vet straight away as well as improving the fresh veg content of the diet.

Hi!

Please see a vet promptly. A big lump is NOT caused by lack of veg or vitamin C, nor are the scabs; but any lumps require a hands-on vet examination and the appropriate treatment depending on their nature.

Over 80% of what a piggy eats in a day should be hay, which actually contains some vitamin C too, and so do pellets; only that they are full of empty fillers compared to hay; dry mix even more so than pellets.
Please follow the detailed advice in our diet guide as to a good and long term health.

Guinea pigs can get scurvy from lack of vitamin C, but as others have said, a lump like that is not a sign of scurvy and needs an assessment. As far as vitamin C goes, the nutritional guide posted above should give you some good guidance.

Sorry all for freaking out, I read somewhere they were symptoms of scurvy. It's really hard to get to a vet during the quarantine, but! Good news! Somehow, randomly, Cinnamon's scabs healed and her lump is going down!
