Hi,
We have noticed that our piggie Luna is scratching a lot on her sides with both her back legs and biting her fur with her mouth. she doesn't have any bold patches except behind the ears which she scratches occasionally but the fur does seem a bit ruffled on her sides. Her companion recently passed away 2 weeks ago and we are looking to adopt another piggie and the rescue center advised us to treat using mites and lice drops as there was a suspicion that this what our other piggie Dot passed away from as she had some bold patches and was very fragile as well. Does anyone have any suggestions on what this might be caused by and should we go see a vet? thank you!

Hi, yes you should definitely see a vet if your piggy is scratching a lot. She may have mites or lice, or a fungal or bacterial skin infection, or she may just be grooming a lot as a response to the stress of losing her companion- only a vet check can say for sure.
