Hi! Earlier this evening my dad went out to get more bedding for the pigs, since we were running low. But he got... scented bedding. It’s scented with real lavender and it has little flakes of it in the bedding.

Is... is this dangerous? I don’t have anything else to use and I doubt we’ll be able to get more anytime soon, since I get paid in two weeks.

I think it would be best to return the bedding if possible. If it is unopened then it should be fine to take it back to the store and swap it for an unscented version.
Anything scented is always a big no no for piggies due to their sensitive respiratory systems.
One of the problems is that if it is in their cage and bothering them they have no way of escaping from the smell.

In an absolute emergency you could always use an old fleece blanket with a layer of newspapers underneath. The newspapers would need changing daily and this isn't ideal, but it will keep them dry and safe until you can sort out something better.

I've used an old single duvet before in an emergency with bin liners carefully placed underneath so that there were no gaps and I washed the duvet every day. Fortunately I have 2 old single duvets so I kept swapping them.

Thank you all very much! I did open it but I’ve been using an old blanket with a layer of hay to keep them comfy (fortunately my dad got plenty of it). Thank you for for the advice!
