Hello everyone!

I just wanted to ask if there is any homemade recipes for removing piggie scents from the cage? For example: when doing introductions I read that you must clean the cage completely to remove the scent of the other piggies. What I was doing was mix a bit of soap and distilled vinegar. Just wanted to know what other people used when removing the scent. Thank you! :)

Water, soap and vinegar should be fine.
Do ensure you do introductions in a neutral zone though, not in the cage. The cage can be cleaned down while they are in the neutral zone and then if they are successful, the piggies can be moved into the cleaned cage

Yup I Know, I wasn't sure if I was using the right materials to clean the cage lol. Thank you!

I have a Midwest, & I just use Clorox wipes to clean the bottom of the cage & I also line it with puppy pads (then a towel, THEN the fleece for extra absorption).

Clorox wipes are generally not recommended for cleaning cages (at least in the smaller animal circles I’m in). They have lots of harsh chemicals and a really strong odor, so using something that’s known to be safe like vinegar water or dish soap and water is much better. :)

I never had any issues, especially since I line the cage afterwards with puppy pads (always replaced, never reused), a towel, & fleece.
I also don't use the scented kind. :) I am sensitive to a lot of things with my skin, so I am careful not to use scented items!

But dish soap is good too, I've used that in the past as well, I could always use that again. The bottom of the cage doesn't really get dirty though, thankful for puppy pads!
