We r having problem with our guinea pig rubbing his ass during floor time with the other 2 guinea pigs, causing the carpet to stink. Because of this, we have to have separate floor times for them.
We tried opening up his anus and there's pertruding out of his anus. The smell was horrible. xx0 We tried to dig it out but it seems to be stuck to the wall, and we stop when he squeaks, scared that we r causing him pain.
Is he having impaction? Or does he purposely keep the to scent mark? How can we stop him from rubbing his ass on the floor? Would it help if we get rid of the accumulation of in his anus?
Thanks.

oooh dear, my boars rub there bums on the floor sometimes when there scent marking but havent actually looked if theres anything stuck or anything as he acts normal now.

I dont think it would be impaction but it may be just a piece of hay stuck in there or something :-\ Maybe try and get some luke warm cotton wool and washing his bum area and see if anything comes out ? ?

If he is making the carpet smell put a blanket down so when they have finished with floor time the blanket can go in the washing machine.

We r not that worried about him stinking up the carpet. But more if he has impaction. Cause the clump of that we couldn't get it out, it wasn't just a piece of hay or anything small. It's really like a big clump of hard, stinky . *oops* xx0

Could well be impaction.Rub some KY jelly or even olive oil round the inside rim of the anus,then-very gently roll the sac over.You should be able to ease the lump out.For the impaction to be hard like this it must have been building up for 2 days or more.Now that you are aware he has this problem you will need to check him at least once a day,this way you will not get a build up.Sometimes impaction is transient so it may stop,but often the boar will always have the problem.;

Boars with impaction realy do need ahelping hand from a friend!. If you can stop a bad build up the smell is not so bad---honest!.

Vinigar will remove the smell from the carpet.Use white vinigar diluted with warm water.

If the impaction continues for a while,you will need to feed him pellets from one of the other boars.The larger pellets that they cocographate contain vitimin B12 ,which is why they re ingest.

Oh the joys of keeping boars!.
