So about a week ago our lovely boar Len had a big patch of sticky fur above his nose. Kind of looked like he'd been sticking his head into glue or something. Tried to clean it but it wouldn't budge. Didn't seem to be bothering him so left him to it. This evening come home and the patch of sticky hair has disappeared and he's now got a scabby hairless patch. Wondered if he maybe rubbed it off or something as we couldn't see any bleeding when we tried to clean it and never found out what it was. Any ideas?

It sounds as if it was boar glue (dried semen).
Once dried, it sets solid and will not be cleaned off - it either needs to drop off on its own or depending on where it is, you can sometimes cut the chunk of hair out.
Obviously in his nose there is nothing you can do to remove it and it is now likely it has rubbed off.

Brill, that's what we thought! Oh the joys of being a boar parent!
Would you recommend putting anything on his scabby nose now? It looks to be healing fine but just wondered if it needs washing/antiseptic?

I think it will heal up just fine by itself- the wound has scabbed over anyway.
Obviously, if it looks like it's getting infected I would take him to the vets.
I hope his hair grows back soon 😂

Excellent news. Just curious, was it his own or does he have a "humpy" male cage mate?
