About 2 days ago i noticed something hard below my boars lip while giving him neck scratches. First i thought it was some leftover food or his fur got wet while drinking and stuck together (wouldnt be the first time). Now i checked again and it's still there. I'm attaching some photos. I hope It's visible enough, I havent had him for long and he doesnt like to be picked up yet.

Thank you all, here are some photos of my baby. I hope you can see the scab under his lip. Any advice? IMG-3fad61c2b39b4e8a5b53904259118380-V.webp

He lived with a sow, because place i got them from told me they were both females. When I figured it out, I separated them until he gets neutered.

My piggy Pebble had something like this yesterday. I hoped it was boar glue or food. This morning it was gone. There is no wound or loss of fur underneath. But I’m keeping a very close eye on him in case it’s fungal or the start of chelitis.

As you haven’t had him long a vet trip would be a good idea to get him a clean bill of health.

Just read you have a female too. She needs to be put on pregnancy watch for 10 weeks in case she is pregnant. Are you sure he is a he? If you’d like to post clear photos of their genitals we could check for you. Good luck.

I went to a vet and he said its a he, and I also belive my sow is pregnant. She is getting very chubby, sleeps all the time and is even sassier than usual.

Also in my country there is no exotic vets, so I'm going to a vet for small animals which i know its not specialized for guinea pigs but i dont know what else to do.

It’s good you had him seen by a vet and he’s definitely male. You have to wait to see if she is pregnant. How old is she? How long has she been with males? Has she had a pregnancy before. Sorry for all the questions but it helps with advice.

@Piggies&buns should this be moved to the pregnancy section?

She is about 4-5 months old. I had them together for about a month before i noticed what i thought was swelling but endes up being testicles.
And no, she hasn't been pregnant before.

As this post is about the issue with the lip, it would be better if you started another new thread regarding the pregnancy in the pregnancy section of the forum. This will mean that the pregnancy experts can give you ongoing support and advice on a thread relevant to the pregnancy.

With regard to the lip, boars can also get boar glue on themselves including on their own mouths. If you can see that it looks like a scab ie it definitely isn’t a bit of food and definitely isn’t boar glue for example, then I would see the vet

Update: It fell off, but there is some fur loss underneath. I made an appointment with a vet. Thank you all for your help!
