Hi all,

I’m a bit worried today because I woke up to see that one of my guinea pigs has something that looks like a scab on Gouda’s ear. She does have another female cage-mate, so I was wondering if it might be caused by a nip. It did seemingly appear over night, though— I don’t remember seeing it yesterday evening. I was wondering if anyone could give me a second opinion on what might have caused it. I’m new to this forum and don’t know exactly how to share a picture, but the cut is very small and looks as if it has scabbed over. It’s red in color and is on the outside of her ear towards the bottom of the ear. Thanks in advance!

Hi!

Can you please post a picture? Otherwise, we can only speculate based on your own speculations, which won't help you.

Ideally you upload a picture via the green Attach File below your post when you write it. The picture icon on the bar above the post you are writing doesn't work for everybody.

If in any doubt, please see a vet.

It could be she scratched at it or something starting. Best bet is the veg. For now you can just keep it clean.
@piggielover31 there’s no way to tell if it is a nip from the cage mate.
