I use sawdust and I find putting a towel on the base of the cage then sawdust, is easy to pick up when cleaning and not so messy

Doesn't the sawdust stick to the towels though?

I thought that too, must make a mess of the towels. I put lots of newspaper under the shavings. x
I shake the towels outside
I dont always have enough newspapers and sometimes when cleaning I find the newspaper breaks up
