I want to stop using sawdust if i can for my piggys what other things can you use?

A lot of people on the forum use fleece. It would at least a layer of newspaper underneath, but is good for wicking away the urine (as long as you don't wash it with fabric softener). Is your pig inside or out?

I use fleece much easier and a lot cheaper, you can get a thing called carefresh which I used to use but its very expensive! x

Do you mean woodshavings? Sawdust shouldn't be used anyway as it is too fine and can cause respiratory problems.

My piggies live indoors so I use fleece blankets on top of old towels.

Other alternatives are Carefresh, Megazorb, Auboise and VetBed. These are the ones I can think of, there are probably others too :))

Haha. OK, fleece is probably a good one to use. Many people will use incontinence pads underneath, I just have a layer of newspaper underneath 2 Primark fleeces. You can get 2 for £4 in Primark at the moment. They need washing every few days (with no fabric softener) and poop sweeping every day to keep it clean. Mine used to be on shavings, but since being on the forum I have changed to fleece and they get on really well with it :)

yes it is woodshaving i allways call it sawdust but it just have to go have a look lol

What kind of cage to you have? I use fleece in the big downstairs of my cage and a combination of woodshavings, paper kitty litter and hay in their hayloft.

I am using woodshavings for mine at the moment because that is what they were on when I got them.

I actually have fleece in the house at the moment and have considered using it but I can't help but think that it will smell with the wee? How often does it need changing?

How do you manage to keep it clean with the hay?

Sorry for hijacking your post :))
