Please don't judge me, I honestly don't normally shop there, but I went into a Pets at Home today. I've been looking online for something to use to hold hay but hadn't seen anything I liked and thought since we were passing I'd look just in case they had something I could walk out with today. My daughter went to look at the Guinea Pigs and lo and behold they had just what I was looking for in their pen! A small wooden crate that had space between the slats!

I went to ask someone who worked there and they just laughed and said they always get asked that but they don't actually sell them! (Huh!?)

I can't find anything similar anywhere online under pet things but I did find this that looks similar on amazon under home things. Think it is just plain wood so maybe it would work? It's the kind of thing I've been looking for for ages!

Don't ever feel like people are going to judge you for shopping in pets at home, i shop there as its easier for me. Don't let people make you feel like you can't shop there or if you do you'll be judged. Pets at home sell some good things for pets.

As for the hay rack, they said exactly that in my pets at home when I asked if they sold the food bowl that was in there.
Did you ask them where they are from?

I'm sure there was a thread about this a while ago! Everyone was going to P@H asking if they had any or were going to have any in, I think :D From what I remember, the staff said they wouldn't for a while or for an indefinite time. A few on here did wonder about the worry of small piggies getting stuck in the gaps, though.

What's the actual wood? Some types are dangerous to pigs who like to chew.

I shop at pets at home for supplies, although some products are said as suitable when they really are not.

Does it specify what wood it actually is? :)

I have one of the ones I posted a link to above ( i.e. the hay rack - not the crate) . It looks like it's made of ply to me . I am happy to accept ply is OK ( not great - but OK) . I have started a seperate thread on woods for forum members to discuss safe woods.

I emailed a little while ago and they may sell them in the future.. There is a thread about these somewhere! I'm lucky as my husband made me 2 for my boys

I buy from P@H too, nothing wrong with buying from there, I used to buy the science selective from there and have bought bowls, beds, houses etc. but it's typical that you see something ideal but it's not being sold lol XD

Tbh, i'd sooner go there for my pets needs than else where, and I do spend a lot of time trawling around horse feed merchants and other pet shops, but they often have what other pet shops lack in stock for our little furries. I too have seen these crates, but put off by the possibility of piggy getting leg caught in gap and breaking leg, so it's a no no from me.
