Sanding and finishing desk with oil in same room as Guinea Pig cage, is it safe?

Hi there!

I recently got a new desk and am planning on sanding it a little and finishing it with linseed or even Danish oil. The desk is right next to my guinea pig cage, both under the window. Linseed oil would work better but Danish oil I believe is safer. I’m not sure about sanding the desk down in the room though. Is this safe? If it’s not I obv won’t do it, but if there is some way I can do it while keeping my guinea pigs safe I would love suggestions!

For context, I have 2 3yr old female guinea pigs in a 2x4 C&C cage. Recently had a check up at the vet and they are in great health.

Can you remove the desk or pigs from the room before carrying out the work to the desk?
We would definitely not recommend that you sand it in the room with the pigs. The dust would irritate their airways.

I’m not sure on the oils and what risks, if any, they may pose
