Safe Woods For Home Made Items

Which woods are safe to make hideys/hutch extensions etc for guinea pigs?

I am aware MDF is not safe .

I have seen threads where some people say kiln dried pine is OK - and others say not.

What about ply ?

I've heard the same about kiln dried pine too, many think it's safe but some say it's not. Hmm, I'd be interested to know this too!
