Had to have my abysinnian Prince pts this morning. Had booked appointment yesterday. Unfortunately, he had 3 tumours in his neck and in the last week had deteriorated more. He had been on palliative care for weeks. We had kept him as comfortable as possible on Metacam and hand, syringe feeding even more cuddles and kisses. He was only having softened pellets and critical care but his weight had plummeted more. I tried porridge oats but he wasn't fussed. Unfortunately, he hadn't been eating veg and hay for a while but had managed to keep him eating grass up until last 4 weeks. Also tried to keep him hydrated. His eyes became sunken too. This morning went so quickly until the dreaded deed had to be done. I spent all morning looking after him until we took him with his friend for comfort.

I am so grateful to my Arabian guinea pig as he has been so attentive to Prince throughout. His lump did not get big for months and months, then he had 3. Feel very sad but know I had to think of Prince first and foremost and letting him battle on would not have been fair on him. Initially took Prince 28 September so we have cherished an extra 2 weeks plus with him. You had been such a happy and healthy guinea pig up until the horrible tumours. Even though you were blind and had interstitial cystitis that could not be treated with antibiotics.
Thank you Prince for giving us such joy. We love you forever. Always in our hearts x♥️

I’m so sorry you had to let Prince go, what a handsome boy he was, so sad, sending you big hugs x
Sleep tight Prince 🌈

I am so sorry you had to let your gorgeous boy go. It's such a horrible decision to have to make but is the last act of kindness. Sending you my best wishes.
Sleep tight Prince.

Thank you so much. It is a hard decision but know I had to think of Prince and the battle had become too much for him. Was sad to see Prince decline when beforehand he had always been so healthy and happy.

I'm so sorry for your loss. ((HUGS)) to you. He looks like a beautiful piggie.

I’m so sorry you had to help Prince over the bridge. But you put his needs before your own and that shows how much you loved and cared for him. He was beautiful. Popcorn high over the bridge. Take care ❤️
