Apologies but I cannot see a thread on this topic. The bottom floor of my pigs cage is rusting in one corner and starting to flake, I don't really want or can afford to buy a new hutch! Can I buy a new floor or cover the floor with plywood or sheet metal? Advice gladly taken, thank you.

You could cover it with plywood and perhaps put lino down, making sure that they cant get to the edges ofcourse!

Hi
@suejb2

I agree with @flowerfairy, replacing the floor covering is essential really. I know hutches aren't cheap but having flakey rust is a real potential threat. Replace floor with sized plywood, if your original flooring has beams around the edge, then you can use that to attach the plywood too, but it's future proofing the floor with lino is really important too. I've done all of mine and it makes such a difference when it comes to cleaning and removing any type of infestation or infection.
