I took my two guinea pigs to the vet a couple days ago because of a slight crackling noise coming from the nose. The vet said everything was fine with their lungs and it was probably a slight irritation on the nose because of the change of bedding to fleece that could cause a build up of pee. They sneezed a couple times but I haven't heard it much lately. Today we went on a trip by car to the south of the country and took them.
They were in their little carrier in a cool place but the car broke down. We moved them around a lot to see if there was a cooler place but put them back where they were which was quite cool compared to the hot air outside. The vet said that because of stress of the trip they might sneeze more. I only heard it a couple times but once we finally got to a stop I saw that one of my piggies had a runny nose. It was a clear and watery fluid. I called the vet and she said that probably all of the stress of the trip and the air conditioning and such most likely irritated her nose.
I still hear the crackle coming from their noses sometimes but the vet said it was only a cause for worries if it was louder and of it came from the torax.
They haven't been sneezing and my piggy's nose isn't runny anymore.
They're eating and running around fine. Pee and poo all fine. I assume they managed to drink from the bowl as well since they peed quite a bit.
We've been moving them around for a bit trying to find a good place to let them stay in. They were happily jumping from the shower to the bottom part of their cage (only part that fit in the car) so I assume they aren't stressed.
Should I worry about the runny nose?
What signs should I look for?
What are the signs of a stressed out piggy?

Has your vet prescribed any treatment for the crackle coming from their nose?

If not, I would get a 2nd opinion if I were you.

They took some antimflamatory medicine. The sneezes stopped and they have no other symptoms. The crackle comes from the nose and not the torax. It's very faint and I'm not even entirely sure if it's really a crackle or just the noise from their noses when they wheek.
