for this past week i’ve been letting my pig run around my bedroom whenever she wanted too, and the door from her cage was always open except for the nights. however just today i closed her cage and she’s been biting the bars constantly.

i’ve tried blocking the door (the part she’s biting ) with a towel and she’s still trying to get to it.

what shall i do to prevent her from biting it? maybe i shouldn’t have let her run round my bedroom all day? but she’s definitely trying to come out to run around...

Aw, she’s been enjoying her freedom, wandering round, there’s so many interesting places to explore. Now she is back in her cage and shut up she’s doing her best to get out again by biting the bars.
I would try and ignore her firstly because if you give in she will know that she can wrap you round her little paw! Have you considered getting her a little female friend for company. A good rescue will try and help you find and bond her for you x

yes i’m trying to ignore her but it’s very hard cause it’s loud but i am thinking about getting her a friend in the future i’m just worried that they might not get along.
but do you have any other ideas how i could prevent her, because she’s doing it non stop!

What might help is making sure her cage is an entertaining and fun place to be with plenty of space for her to run around in..
The best way to do that is give her a friend who she can interact with. As Bill and Ted has already said a rescue will help you pick a suitable companion and offer full support with bonding. etc.

I’m afraid I’ve not been able to finally a single way to stop my little bar chewer. I’ve tried every trick in the book. She’s five now and still does it. I’ve just come to accept her weird quirk.

She does stop eventually but when she chews she goes into a trance. Her cage mate humping her butt, me putting veg in etc doesn't stop her.
She's so zoned in on bar chewing like nothing else exists.

Eevee the white one is the crazy bar chewer. She taught Yugi the ginger but Yugi grabs the bar, tugs it and repeats the action. It's not annoying and she stops as soon as she gets food. Eevee doesn't 😅

awww their all so cute!

should i let her run around during the day like i usually would? she was biting the cage door multiple times during the night

The choice is yours - she clearly likes being out but you can only let her run around free if she is safe and you can watch her.

Definitely get her a friend. A rescue centre will help you find a compatible piggy for her. If they don’t bond, then you can try another piggy until she does find a friend she likes

Another vote for getting her a friend from me. My guinea pig seemed quite happy on her own after her friend died, but now she's living in a cage next to some other piggies it's amazing how much more lively she is!

my little daisy has taken to biting the bars when I am cleaning the cage out and feeding their veggies and i dont give them fast enough....... i tell her to stop and give her a little nudge to get down - she only does it in the floor run... i also agree to getting your piggy a cage mate though.. they do need someone else to talk to
