We have two young guinea pigs currently living in a 4x2 pink cage from pets at home. Which is where we bought the cavys. I would like to give them a space to run around outside in the summer would a run be ok on cobbles?

Do you all have recommended runs i was thinking of a folding one but worried the quality may not be so good ie flimsy i want one that will last..........:{ saw one on ebay but can't make up my mind... i want to keep them as indoor pets though.

i don't see why not, as long as there's no gaps underneath for them to escape from.
also be careful that there's no possibility of weedkiller being used on any plants between them; i can't put my piggies outside on our paving stones because my housemate uses weedkiller on the dandelions (which annoys me as my pigs can't have them as a snack anymore!)
apart from this they should be fine as long as their feet don't get too hot on them- make sure it's well shaded.

Cobbles are like smooth stones used for paving, sorry if that makes no sense :)) I'd imagine cobbles are fine, grass is best but at least they'd have some time with a change of scenery and cobbles would probably help keep their nails filed down a bit! I'm in need of a new run too at the moment so can't really recommend any, mines from p@h but it's not fantastic and is falling apart after a year! xx

I put my rabbits and guinea pigs so that there runs are mostly on grass but patr of their runs are on the concrete as it helps to keep their nails filed.

....Or the steets of Coronation Street....whoo and isn't it hotting up there right now!

Thanks for your advice i will make sure no weedkiller is used and maybe get some grass growing in some kind of container for them to nibble on! maybe this would be a good marketing idea! With added dandilions....and chick weed! :(|) I have seen some great runs online but they are quite expensive i will keep looking for now as the girls are still small at the moment.
