hello,

i just wondered what peoples thoughts were on guinea pig rumbling.

Rita and Currant are sisters and 6 months ago i introduced Pickle as Pickle's friend Jimmy died. they seem fine they don't fight but they just seem to make that rumbling noise at each other all the time. rita and currant are just over a year old and pickle is 11 months old.

they don't rumble when i give them fresh fruit and veg!

they are just establishing dominance.... they do this to sort out the heirarchy in the group..... they should be fine just keep an eye fighting doesnt break out, they should be ok though, pigs can get "*****y" at times too haha

i would have thought that if they didn't like each other i would have known about it by now. it's always Rita the runt of the litter and Pickle the biggest piggie that seem to rumble at each other. currant seems to stay out of it! :)p
 
freddie rumbled at basil today basil was down stairs he ran upsrairs staight into freddie who was coming out of bedroom and he started rumbleing and swaying his bum never seen him do this basil just froze on top of ramp and freddie after his display went sniffing basil mouth ?
 
I have got a part abyssian Guinea pig. She rumbles a lot at my little Patch.
 
My two rumble as well. All though to me it sounds like a 'brrrrrrrrrrr' but rolling the r! Dora thinks she's the boss, Poppy thinks otherwise.
Dora does the weirdest thing, she rumbles, walks really slowly taking really big steps and waggles her bum from side to side... me and my other half are in fits of laughter watching her, its SO funny! Poppy doesn't seem at all phased by it. Usually results in some chin chin action and then off they go back to the food or hay or running about like loons!
 
Looks like little Rita has ambitions! The rumbling is dominance behaviour and can go on for weeks until the ssue is settled be her who has the last rumble!

My little Nia is the certainly the boss in my house, even though her sister Nerys is huge!
