I got 2 guinea pigs nearly 2 weeks ago and one of them is fine when I get it out, it doesn't run when I go to pick it up and it just sits nicely on me. However the other one runs and hides behind the other one when I try to pick it up and it sits on me but it fidgets a lot and It's started rumbling and vibrating, initially I thought this was a good noise but after googling it I found out that it's a bad thing, I pet it all over and it always rumbles and vibrates, it even vibrates when I don't pet it at all. What can I do to stop this and make my piggy more comfortable on me? I'm afraid she doesn't like me already. Any suggestions? Thanks

Hi there, I am not sure it really sounds like rumble strutting. Do you find the vibrations are when you are stroking it! If so then don't worry, it's more likely a happy response.

In my early piggy years I was not sure what was what, but piggies will rumble strut when showing or displaying that they are the dominant one or trying to be the a Chief. Not heard of one doing it to a human, but if it is, it's not about disliking you, just a dominant thing.

Also don't forget it's still very early on and can take much longer for piggies to bond with you.

one of mine vibrates all the time, like shes shaking. i have no idea why. but she seems to love cuddles, so i guess some are just weird.

Thank you, this really put me to ease, hopefully it'll grow out of it. Thanks

One of my girls absolutely hates being touched or picked up and rumbles and chatters at me. I just leave her now because its not worth stressing her out if I want a cuddle. Her three sisters are so different though, they love being stroaked and tickled and cuddled.

She comes up to me when I talk to her or offer her treats and food so I guess thats good.
