I have 2 new rescue sows, both about 2 years old, 1 I've noticed one rumbles (low pitched with vibrations) when I'm stroking her during laptime, the other is still completely silent Is the rumbling to tell me to get off or is she rumbling at her companion? I have them on my lap at the same time as I thought this would make them feel more safe.

My pigs sometimes do this too, I always assume it's because they're annoyed I got them out lol

Haha ok so it's a def a bad noise?! I was so pleased cos they've been silent up to this point, I've really been trying to build up trust but it would appear that they're putting me in my place!

It might just be that they're comfortable enough with you to grumble at you... so an acceptance of sorts :D

Haha yes so this one lifts her head and looks about during lap time, as well as moving about an cuddling in, whereas the other, who is still completely silent, just tucks her head under my armpit and freezes. Sigh. I'll be very rewarding when I do finally get some wheeking!

I won't say definitely but I think it is.A good person to ask would be @Wiebke

I believe its a 'STOP IT' noise. One of my ladies does this if I stroke her rear end. I'm allowed to stroke to halfway down her back, anymore and she rumbles
