Ive had my guinea pig charlie for over a year and half and ive never seen him rumblestrut is this normal? Ive recently got another male to keep charlie company and they have bonded well, the new Guinea pig rumlestrutts all the time obviously i know this is a dominance behaviour but can't understand why charlie is not doing this, he was kept alone when he was with his last owner, could maybe he doesn't know natural Guinea pig behaviour.

It’s most likely that Charlie is the submissive pig and that your other piggy is dominant. So Charlie isn’t challenging him by rumbling back

Yes most likely - if he was alone, he wouldn’t have anybody to rumble at. If your new piggy is rumbling, then you will nay find he is more dominant than Charlie, and Charlie possibly still wont rumblestrut

Yeh charlie is so laid back lol, the other piggie is a lot younger, but they do live together very well, they have never fought with each other x

Not every pig is competitive... Rumblestrutting is how boars measure up to each other and impress the sows - he who has the most sonorous rumble comes top; this then turns into a mild dominance behaviour that is also used by sows. ;)

But some boars rarely or never strut while others are what I call constant 'rumble minstrels'! Like with humans, piggies are as individual and complex personalities... Just cherish your boy for what he is!
