igglepiggle

There is a power struggle going on with my two piggies! Piggy appears to be 'rumble strutting' around Iggy. She is sort of walking stiff legged and making a D-G-D-G-D-G noise. (She actually makes the same disgruntled noise to me when I pick her up!) Will this resolve itself? There hasn't been any actual fighting yet, but a couple of days in a row I hav found Iggy sleeping outside of the sleeping area without Piggy.
?

they are just seeing who is top piggy, as long as blood isn't drawn or 2 fluff balls turn into one i would leave them to sort it out themselves. would suggest getting 2 of everything and perhaps get iggy a little bed to sleep in. hoping things settle down soon for you. :smitten: :smitten: :smitten:

so is it not a mating noise then because milo does it all the time ?

it could be a mating call for piggies but as i assumed both piggies were the same sex i assumed it was a dominence thing. my jessie girl rattles at zoe all the time but to be honest have never heard the mating call. except when OH is snoring ;D ;D ;D usually when 2 piggys of same sex make noises, picking on one or eachother it is a dominence thing. hoping your problems sort themselves out. O0 O0 O0 piggies you got to love them. :smitten: :smitten: :smitten:

I think the mating noise is more of a purr and the the fighty noise is more of a chatter - I can do a passable impression of both, but not by typing!

Yep agree with Sophie there is a difference in the news. Pudsey is rumbling all over Eccles and that's dominance but I was going through my Sow Fleur's fur checking for lice earlier and she was purring like she was being mounted! 98) I tell you my pigguns are all barmy! ;D

my piggys dont chatter what does chatterin sound like milo is always stiff leged walking and wigglin his bum makin a purrin noise

Chattering sounds like teeth chattering pigs do it when annoyed mine do it when waiting for veggies! 98)

It ouldn't be a mating noise could it?! ? Its just that, for a couple of weeks now I have noticed that Iggy was getting fatter. I was told they are both girls, but as is often seen on these boards I guess mistakes can be made?! ;) If Iggy was preggers, would she have had babies by now? I have had her 7 weeks and they were 15 weeks old when I got them, would she be very obviously pregnant by now? Oh dear, am a bit worried now, I have checked their bits before and they both looked like females according to what I have seen in books and on forums, but I did think they both looked a bit different, just not enough to be boy and girl. Oh dear, I hope I havn't made a dreadful mistake. :'(
If I put some pics of the girls' bits on here would people be able to sex them for me?

Oh yeah but I always get it wrong...haha yep defo put them up lots of experienced people on here will know the sexes for sure.

Pigs are pregnant for 10 weeks there would be noticable signs like drinking and eating more and I don't think you can tell until 7 weeks but those who know their stuff can spot it earlier. :)

Stick up a pic if you're not sure O0

The purrrrrrrring noise can represent a few differnet moods, if its a boar and sow/sow and sow/boar and boar it can be a 'horny' noise which is basically 'I am going to mount you because you are gorgeous' or if its a sow because she is in season and sexually excited. Sometimes when I handle my cavies they make this noise sometimes its because they are happy and sometimes its a noise for unsureness.
The chattering noise is definately a warning noise. Its like them saying 'get out of my face or I am gonna kick your butt!' Obs if the other pig pushes it or retalates(sp?) with chattering its more than likely a fight. Fred my dominant sow does this to me to say get out of my bed, when I am cleaning out the cat bed or inside one of her boxes.
