Rumble strutting

Hi I got a 9 week old sow four days ago. My two year old sow rumble strutted a lot but I’ve heard that that’s fine. But now she’s still doing it when they both come across each other in the middle. Although there is times when they will just Lie down together. I just would like to know if this is Normal?

Nothing to worry about. Have you double checked the genders of your piggies before introduction?

Yes thank you. The breeder check and I’ve had a check and we believe there both female

If you want a second opinion, you are always welcome to use the pictures in our sexing guide (which aims to teach people to learn where to check the more hidden but much clearer pictures) as comparison. To any sexing there should be a hands on component; learning how to sex guinea pigs reliably yourself is not the worst life skill to acquire. We have sadly seen a steady rise in mis-sexed or already pregnant pet shop and breeder guinea pigs over the last few years.

Rumblestrutting is mild dominance behaviour. In your case, the hierarchy has obviously not quite completely resolved.
