Hey all,

Rosie is a happy active 2 year old pigwig. She’s quite the unit, around 1300 grams. She’s been in excellent health, loves playing, but whenever she wishes to groom her sides or bum area, she struggles a bit. By that I mean, she doesn’t really reach it. She has to kind of whip her head back and forth to catch momentum, but even then she doesn’t quite reach the areas. I’ve figured it’s her tummy that’s in the way, but I also wish to check with you guys.

Could this be cause for concern at all?

Here Rosie is doing what Rosie does best - eating.

Ah bless her. I’m sure it’s not an issue. My two boars don’t groom themselves much and I give their fur a gentle every week.Do you weigh her and do a health check weekly ?

I think I can picture what you mean about having to whip her head back - I think to some extent most piggies will do that - I know mine do, even my smaller piggy (he still weighs in at 1.1kg) when he’s trying to reach the middle of his back

Is her heft ok? If it is, then I wouldn’t be too concerned but of course if you are worried, then it’s always best to speak to a vet
