Hi there, my guinea pig is 6 years old. We found out she has cancer 2 years ago and was put on metacam for any discomfort. The vet said with her age there was nothing they could do other than keep her comfy. I think she is dying and I'm not sure if I should take her the vet or keep her at home where she is calm and comfortable she doesn't seem to be showing any signs of pain and is not anxious in any way she is actually really peaceful. Any advice will be much appreciated. Thank you.

I’m sorry to hear your news. It is a tough one as you are the one best placed to know whether the time is right or not. If she seems peaceful then perhaps just have her at home. But if you think she’s in pain or is struggling then you can get her in with the emergency vet.

It’s a tough call but a real act of love on our part. Better a day too early than too late, or something like that.

Wishing you both all the best.

I’m so sorry your girl may be crossing the rainbow bridge. If she seems comfortable then I’d leave her be. I think she will be calmer in her normal surroundings.

If she’s not in any pain then she’ll be much happier at home In familiar surroundings.
Sorry that she’s passing away - I hope she simply slip away peacefully at home.
Holding you in my heart.
