PHi am looking at getting a bigger cage for my girls has anyone got the rose cottage from p@h and is it suitable if I wanted to expand from 3 girls to 4

Hi,

the rose cottage looks nice and is solid, I just bought the summer lodge as an alternative and it's £99 atm and just as sturdy:))

rose cottage is good space wise...
BUT... guinea pigs seem to find the tase of this particular hutch (and matching run) unbelievably tasty...

the guineas had eaten the hutch to quite an extreme... and no other hutch has been eaten quite like this one...

i used to have 6 in there with the matching run always attatched....
but now i have taken the ramp off... covered the hole over and have 2 pairs of boys in there...

:)

Rose cottage is okay but I'm not sure how many winters it will see me through. I've had it for over a year now and it's showing a few signs of wear and tear and has had to have a few repairs (mainly an additional screw on the floor where it began to sag).

I'd highly recommend the hutch covers for it though, really worked well to keep the damp out!

had my 3 rabbits in this (with a 5t run attached at all times) and it faired very well. I put lino on the bottom floor to protect the wood. I now have my girls in it overnight and I have found they haven't chwed it. The hole fro the ramp will need covering over more, I just attached a small peice of ply wood to make the gap smaller as they did fall down it. If you have trouble with the ramp, you can unscrew where it is secured at the back, add a hinge to the top where it joins the top floor, and make it less steep and also add a tunnel to it as they love tunnels so are not afraid of the ramp. I love my rose cottage, it looks tidy and in the winter I cover it with blankets and a taup folded into shape to cover the hutch and stuck together with duct tape so it doesn't blow about. hth

I have recently bought the Rose Cottage and cover. I have 3 grown up piggies and one baby in it and its big enough for them all. I have also tiled the bottom floor with lino tiles (have done it with all my hutches) as it so much easier to keep clean.
I agree with ariel&oscar about the hole at the top of the ramp being too big as Alfie backed his way out of the bedroom (chased by Blossom) and fell over the edge.

Was today planning to put a loft area in the top right (above the top of the stairs) as there is so much unused space there. In my minds eye I can see this lovely cosy loft area but getting it made will be another thing entirely......

:)ive seen the rose cottage and it seems good, in my store if you go you get toys and bedding and food
