Hi; has anyone ever given piggies the wood roots from rose bushes to gnaw on? I have dug up a climbing rose and was wondering whether if I washed the root wood i could put it in the gp enclosure for them to gnaw on as I know they can eat the leaves and petals from roses..

I personally wouldn't as roots can have different properties than petals and leaves.
I would stick to things that are known to be safe like hazel and willow branches.

I have a rule of thumb that if there’s any doubt, I leave it out. I haven’t ever heard of rose roots being given to piggies, so I personally wouldn’t risk it.

Thank you 😊 I check and check what piggies can eat if a new food to my lot is suggested. GP forum is great for that when Google fails hence the question. Thank you again 😊
