i really dont understand guinea pig psychology sometimes. last night, piglet was in a right state...i dont know whaaat possessed him but he was being an absolute bully out of nowhere. he's always been the dominant one, but it was like somebody gave him piggy steroids or something cus he was running around like a lunatic, and nothing short of harassing roger and george to the point where i decided it would be safer to keep him seperate for the night (oh and i were going to bed).
so i set up a cage for him, and had it sitting directly next to the pen so they could still hear and see each other. he really couldnt be bothered to care about being in "piggy time out," he just skulked in to the pigloo i put in there with him and started eating hay. well no less than ten seconds past, and roger is trying to climb up the bars next to the other cage, wheeking his head off at the top of his lungs, and was generally irate. i couldn't believe it! piglet had been incredibly obnoxious to him, and he spent like 20 minutes being humped and chased relentlessy (i waited a while to intervene, because i wanted to see them work it out, but it was getting a little ridiculous). so to prevent getting a noise complaint from my neighbors (he was THAT loud!) i tentatively put piglet back in the pen. piglet rumbled off, and plopped down in a pigloo (apparently his short time in the cage chilled him out), and roger immediately shut up, and walked in a completely different direction. I AM BAFFLED! for the life of me i cant understand why roger was so obsessed despite being bullied, and why he was so eager to get him back in the pen when he finally got a break from it!
this really isnt a question of help, but I'm just so exasperated! i cant wait till piggy-pubescence has mellowed out :{

Gus and Darwin wind each other up something rotten, but if they're apart for any reason they'll both shriek and squeal like nobody's business to get back together!

So you have three boars sharing one cage? If this is the case, at some point (or frequently) you are going to get this problem.

I've posted quite a few things from observing our two boars and boys can be a handful for a lot of reasons. I've never heard of a successful grouping of three boars though (that's not to say it's not happened or is impossible - I've just never heard of it).

The issue is their ages, testosterone, dominance and territorialism and it will only get worse before it gets better (if it indeed does get better).

Fingers crossed for you. Let me know if there are any more incidents like this :)

ive heard not so positive things about it as well. more often than not, they all get along fine. it's just been the last few days (i suspect it coinsides with having to give them baths) piglet has been stroppier than usual. but I'm not too worried just yet. we are moving in a few days, and we'll come home to a nice big C&C cage, so hopefully itll help calm him down (having extra room, that is).

That sounds like a good move (congrats on your move btw).

If you have a nice big c&c cage with three of everything (water bottle, feeder, veggie bowl, chew toys etc.) you should enable them to have their own space when they need it.

When it comes to bathing them. You might try bathing them all together (if you can manage all three!). Then keep them together in neutral territory afterwards. This is often used as a bonding tool because they will all be nervous and will look to each other for support.
