Hi everyone! Recently I've had a really bad roach infestation in the guinea pig room 😮‍💨 They've been getting in the cages as well, I do my best to get rid of them but they still come back. How can I get rid of them safely without harming the guinea pigs?

Hiya, sorry to hear you have problems with these, found this, if this doesn’t work you may have to get professional in to deal with it
Good luck 🤞

I would be tempted to get someone from a professional company in to do an assessment for you.
It might just be that roaches thrive in your area and there is avery little you can do about it, but there could be an actual issue and something that is attracting them and making the problem worse.

We once had a similar issue in a flat we lived in and as it was in a block of flats (there were about 12 in all) the landlord got a company in to lay traps in all of the flats to work out where the problem was. Turns out that one resident was doing a very bad job of cleaning and leaving food, rubbish, etc everywhere, and this was attracting the roaches. Once the problem was addressed the roaches left (as much as they ever leave of course - we all know they are everywhere).

Are they cockroaches or palmettos? I can't say that I miss seeing palmettos as they are so big!

I'll definitely try this thank you! I'm gonna get the pigs out the room before I put it in just to be safe

I occasionally get cockroaches in my pig room, mainly when the weather warms up. I don’t get too many that I feel they are of any concern luckily. I tend to just sweep them up and Chuck them outside. You can buy cockroach traps from what I’ve seen in hardware stores.

Yes I'll see if my local hard ware store has any and buy some! Thanks for the suggestion!
