There is a patch under spuds eye where the hair seems to be thinning slightly and he has had small crusty bits around his eyes at times. He doesn't seem bothered at all and I was just keeping an eye on it not wanting to overreact but now I have a rash under my neck where spud likes to cuddle up. I was wondering if this could be ringworm. It's awful timing as we're supposed to be going on holiday soon and the piggies were going to go to a boarding place now I'm worrying what to do if it is ringworm. We've booked a vet visit for tomorrow but the spot under spuds eye is so slight I'm worried they'll just say nothing is wrong.

The vets said it just looked like slight skin irritation or at worst mites and have given him and his cagemate a one off treatment for mites.

We weren't able to take hime to see an exotics vet or a Guinea pig specialist so we just saw the normal vet. I was thinking this would be OK seen as ringworm can affect any mammal and is quite common but now I'm not sure we made the right decision.

If it’s ringworm, it’s going to get worse over the coming days. Exercise strict hygiene just in case it does turn out to be ringworm.
If it’s mites, a one off treatment likely isn’t going to be effective (only live mites are killed by the treatment, so any eggs present will continue to hatch and continue the cycle so this is why mites are treated via a course of treatments).

If it is mites it will need three treatments two weeks apart. Percy and Pepper had mites at then end of last year. Cleared up nicely. 😃

It doesn't seem any worse today and my rash really doesn't look like ringworm now so I'm pretty convinced it's not ringworm now. I'll keep an eye on it we may have to go back if it doesn't get better
