Hey everyone,

My three girls have ring worm. They have been seen by the vet and they are on anti- fungal oral medication.

I have cleaned and disinfected their cage, toys, potties, bedding, and houses.

My pigs have free range of my house for floor time. They go under my couch and chairs, all over my carpet.

How would you guys clean the bottom of material and wood furniture? It’s a big living room.... so my task seems impossible...

Hi!

Very sorry about the outbreak!

The best thing is to hoover very thoroughly; ideally twice with treating the nozzle with disinfectant in between and after (doesn't have to be on the same day but should be always done after thoroughly hoovering the living room/before you hoover other parts of the house).

If possible to steam clean the carpet where spores can get caught in the fibres more easily. Be careful not to add F10 and spot test first before applying on any fabric.
However, a double hoover and steam clean will go a long way as I know from ringworm with my own free-roaming tribe. Don't let any acutely affected piggies free roam until they have passed the post-treatment quarantine.

Hi Annie,

I know this is an old post, but hoping you see this and can reply!...I am curious how you ended up cleaning and how treatment wound up going with your free-roam tribe? I haven't been able to find any other personal experiences with someone going through this with free-roam piggies and it would really bring me some peace of mind to hear from someone who went through a similar situation, and how it was resolved!

Thanks in advance if you see this and have the time to share.

This is a 4 year old thread and this member has not logged back on the forum in the past 4 years so I’m afraid you are not likely to get a specific reply or update.

Please do start your own new thread detailing the background of treatment and then to receive monitored and ongoing support specific to your case.
In the meantime, wiebke’s advice to the OP regarding cleaning still stands.
