Ridiculous Names!?!

We are considering having 2 more piggies. My silly daughter has come up with the names Sharkiesha and Shaniqua!

Please say you agree, they are the silliest guinea pig names you've ever heard!?!
 
Do they relate to something (film character mixed up names or something) that my children have not yet got interested in?
 
Without sounding racist, they're black names usually American black. Maybe they got the names from a show they watch?

I've had a lot of people - especially vets, give me weird looks over my piggies named Romano and Sakurai. :))

That's right! She tells me Sharkiesha was from a YouTube video! Shaniqua we heard on Big Brother, can't remember the context.

She did suggest having a black piggie! I don't think that's racist, it really shouldn't be!

My daughter is into all things American! But we won't be using theses names, they don't really go with our others: Rosie, Lola and Alfie!

Going to the vets is one of the reasons she wants silly names! We recently took one of our chickens called Jemima, I don't think that's strange! But they made a big deal of spelling it and said they hadn't had a Jemima before!

I'd never thought about vet's waiting room when I called my previous pair of boys Mycroft and Moriarty. I've always been a fan of the Sherlock Holmes stories, but my boys didn't suit the obvious names.

However, I hadn't reckoned on the 'Waiting Room' factor...... Being asked to bring Moriarty through to the consulting room in front of a packed waiting room is a moment I'll never forget.

I don't think Jemima is an unusual name. Mind you, all our poultry when we were children had old English names. Our Jemima was the boss duck!
 
I had a guinea pig called Eyebrows - Brows for short. the reason being he had bushy eyebrows. However, sat in the vets it was quite funny because the vet came out and said " Eyebrows? Do we have Eyebrows, please?" I laughed as every one checked their eyebrows. Still has me chuckling today x
 
I know I'm not a piggy but I think my name is ridiculous :( I really hate it with a passion I hate it when the doctor etc calls me from the waiting room or if I have to say my name eg over the phone....grrr
I hate it even more after my dad said I was named after one of the hells angles :doh:

Aw there's nothing wrong with Kellie! :) At least your surname isn't Bugg, hehe! I've had some really bizarre spellings of my name over the years and I can gaurantee, is someone asks my name, that they'll say "sorry? Can you spell that?" when I tell them! We also have cold callers giggling down the phone when they say our name! Haha.

You would laugh if I told you my last name....ha ha
My sister is Amie :) I love that name or Julia, Katie, Claire, Charlotte etc etc nice proper girls names :)
 
One of my piggies is called Ffwlbri.

It means "Moonlight" in Welsh (which very much suits her colouring of white, slate and a bit of ginger). My vets have put the proper pronounciation in brackets with it (Fullbree). ;)

Oh that's lovely! :D Although I'm not surprised they need the bracketed part, I would've had no idea how to pronounce it, but it's beautiful. :)

Thanks. :) I read on google a couple of years ago that it was considered old fashioned now. Made me feel so old! But there seems to be quite a few Amy/Aimee/Amie's (etc!) around now. There are at least 3 adverts with Amy's in at the moment as well! Making a comeback! Also, there's a coke bottle with my name on, so it MUST be 'trendy'. ;)

My Amie was born in 1981 :) yep it's coming back I know of 4 is see daily :)

I'm a 'proper girl', I'm Julia!

Well this topic has got us all going!

A few months ahead of time, we have unexpectedly got our 2 new girls! You know how it is, things don't always go to plan!

There are NOT called sharkeisha or Saniqua! They are Ellie and Maisy!

I will start a new thread with photos when I've got more time! But they are very cute and I'm very happy!
 
Lovely names! :D

I'm a bit disappointed now that we didn't think of Moriarty for our boy! If I ever get a cat, that's what I'll name him! I do miss having a cat - ours was 21 when he passed away and only a year (and 10 days!) younger than me, so until he died I never remembered not having one. The road next to our house is too busy for us to have one though, I'd hate for him to get knocked down. :( And yes I say him because our boy, Tigger, was a very cool black cat and I'd love another one some day. :) Not everyone likes black cats but ours was a total dude!

Although Bumper definitely suits his name, he's a little dear and he's always doing zoomies and bumping into things haha, despite our best efforts!
 
Our cat is black! My daughter chose him too! He'd been over looked at the rescue centre and had been there for longer than they would expect - because he was black they think!

21 is a very good age! I hope my Jake lasts that long!
