Hi guinea parents, my sweet Ozzy was just diagnosed with a respiratory infection today after I noticed some breathing and sneezing problems over the past few days. The vet has him on a medication and some critical care because he dropped in weight. I have two boys (should I separate them?) and I was hoping for some advice on how to give Oz the best possible care so I can get him healthy again. My piggies are my favorite things in life and I would do anything for them. I desperately want my little Oz to feel better! Any advice is appreciated💕 I’ve also attached a picture of my very handsome boy for referencedA69560E1-A48E-4527-8E41-19277277098C.webp

I’m sorry he isnt well.

Sometimes putting them in a steamy room (a bathroom with a shower running) can help.
Ensure you weigh him daily so you can know you are syringe feeding the right amount in each 24 hour period to stop further weight loss. And obviously ensuring he gets his medication.
It is advisable go give a probiotic to a piggy who is on antibiotics. Antibiotics can affect the gut and cause them to lose appetite further

Please don’t separate him from his friend. Piggies are so much happier when they stay with their friends. Separation causes stress which in turns lowers the immune system which obviously is not what he needs.
Plus, medically separating a bonded pair can ruin their bond - they can, sometimes, refuse to go back together again.

Thank you so much for your advice💕 I have never had a piggy with a respiratory problem before so I am very out of my element here. I will definitely keep the boys together and try the other ideas☺️ Anything to get him healthy again!
