Hello,
I’m not 100% sure where to post this. I have lost my older girl (7.5 years). I still have 2 (2.5 year olds) they seem to be doing okay. Squeaking at me, and eating but they were a trio and now I’m not sure to keep them as a pair or attempt to make a trio again. The two I have now have always know a trio (had the 7.5 year old 1st and then added these two at the same time when they were about 7-8 weeks old). I’m not sure what to do?

The choice comes down entirely to you in this situation. The fact that they still have each other means that getting another piggy is not essential as neither of your piggies are lonely.

However, if you were to get another piggy, then you need to make sure that it is compatible with your current pair by taking on a piggy via dating. There is every chance that your current two won’t accept a new piggy into their pairing

I’m in a similar situation. I have just lost a neutered boar which has left me with two sows. They get along really well and seem to have settled into life without Bruno. I must admit, they seem much more relaxed without a boar to boss them around so I think I’m going to leave them as a pair.

Welcome to the forum.
So sorry for your loss. Feel free to post a tribute to your girl on the Rainbow Bridge thread.

It’s good that you are thinking about the future well-being of your 2 surviving girls.
As they are of a similar age there is less urgency than if one was a lot older than the other.
Why not give yourself time to grieve and to see how the pair settle.
You can read all the guides about bereavement and bonding without the pressure of having a single bereaved piggy to worry about.
