My Pig has reoccurring kidney stones that form every month. Two months ago he got a surgery to remove one, and last month he developed another one. My vet told me he didn't feel safe operating again, and that we had to decide between operating (Despite the risk) or putting him down. I decided to keep him on pain meds/antibiotics until they stopped working, and then I would take him in to say goodbye. He has started squealing and seems extremely uncomfortable, and I think it's time to put him down. My parents do not understand that these things just happen to some pigs, and urged me to find a way to keep him alive. I understand you all are not vets, but if there is anything I don't know or any website I could read that could possibly save him I would appreciate it. Thank you.

I'm really sorry that you are going through this and that the stones reformed so quickly. I had similar where I went through very expensive surgery only for two weeks later the other kidney to be swollen and painful. We didn't even get an x-ray at that point because he wouldn't have survived another surgery so we chose to say goodbye. It is so hard to do but sometimes you have to put their needs first. Maybe consult your vet again but I would say if he has been losing weight due to the pain then they might feel that the chance of him surviving surgery are smaller than previously

I’m so sorry, but you really do need to speak to your vet. Sometimes you have to love them enough to let them go.

Thank you all for your kind words. I've known from the beginning that this would be hard, however I've always had his needs put first. I would rather him pass away in my arms than on a vet's table so surgery is out of the question. I have decided just let him go. Thank you for the support again.
