Hello lovely forum people, I just moved and there is a laundry facility in my apartment complex. Some of the people use really really fragrant laundry detergent. I wash my and my guineas laundry with completely non toxic non fragrant detergent on hot. When I take my clothes out they still reek of the previous persons super fragrant smelly detergent. I'm not sure what to do. The laundry mat could have the same problem. Does anyone have any ideas on how to cut that fragrant laundry smell? I hate to have to submit my piggies to that. Thank you for the help and input.
Hope you and all your fur babies are healthy and well.

Could you get a washing machine to have in your own apartment, then you will know exactly what products go in it - and more to the point, which ones DON'T.

I would add white vinegar to the wash. I use this anyway as it helps to take any stinkyness out of pet bedding but in this case it might take the fragrances out too.

I just add it where the fabric conditioner would normally go. I buy it from Tesco - it's really cheap and works really well.

White vinegar! Noah can be very sneezey if he's exposed to strong smells (perfume, detergent, spray, etc) so I try to avoid it as much as possible. Personally, when I was their bedding, I put some non-bio washing powder in for that part of the wash, then some vinegar where fabric softener would go and a little bit in the wash too. I also do an extra rinse cycle for good measure and the fleece is normally aired before going in their cage.

Hope this helps!

Thanks everyone so much, I try so hard to take care of my pigs and now this dilemma. Everyone here must think I am crazy because when I do my wash I sniff the inside of the washer. I asked if I could put a portable washer in my apartment, the answer was no, how unfortunate. I am trying the baking soda and vinegar, may I ask, how much vinegar? I am line drying my clothes but there is no porch, balcony or outside area so that leaves inside, it dosn't seem to be helping. Thank you so much for the help, my lovelies need not have to smell that ick!
