Why do you think piggies react differently to others in the group?

I have been watching the pigs all afternoon, and the relationship between Mickey and Hope is so different to that between Mickey and Harmony.

Mickey and Hope are like a married couple they have a few scuffles over the veg, they always both want the same piece. He chases her around, trying to mount her, not excessively but he does. Yet he reacts completely differently to Harmony she is like his little sister, he never chases her or tries to mount he, she never tries to steal his food and he won't take it from her. She also follows him around and if she gets scared she will hide behind him.

Different personalities... Fred and Wilma are very close, Wilma grooms him and they lie side by side.

Pebbles... Is on her own technically she is kinda left out, but her and wilma do lie together sometimes... All mine steel food, and Wilma loves Fred chases her, were as Pebbles pee's on him :)).

I've had groups before where pigs have gotten on better with some than others but I have never had one that has such a different relationship with the other 2.

I'm lucky with mine as one of them isn't left out. Although that would give me the excuse for another piggie:))

I love the relationship between my two and their different personalities. Milo acts cocky and tough, but he's all mouth and no trousers, so to speak, and a little wuss! He acts like he's in charge and tries to tell Gilbert what to do and he pinches Gilbert's food. Gilbert, on the other hand, is quietly assured, far more confident but he keeps it to himself. He is the real brave one and the true leader, but he lets Milo think he's in charge to humour him a lot of the time. Then the second they come out of the pen or Milo gets wussy, he's right behind Gilbert and Gilbert leads the way. Gilbert's quite good at reclaiming his food too :))

They're the very best of friends and I'm really quite envious of their relationship :) x)

Too be fair I think Pebbles likes her own company, and since I have an intact boar and two spayed females, I don't think there will be any adding :))!

Pebbles is left out only because she prefers her own company, the food bowl is enough for my girl, aslong as it has food she's happy!

She does have a very strong bond with Wilma her sister, if they are moved the girls keep close beside one another.

haha my girls are sisters too, and they act like it they will argue about anything and everything, sometimes I can't even tell what it's over. Yet if put them somewhere new, they stick together like glue and if I have one out the other is always looking for them. Mickey is too laid back to care about one being missing and he takes all new places in his stride.

I found it very fascinating to see how different Llewelyn's relationships with all his seven girls are.

Beforehand, Llewelyn had lived with a much older sow, Dizzy, who adored him and gave him cuddles every day. When I introduced four year old Fflur to the group a few weeks ago, Llewelyn reacted very possessively about her; she was "his" in a way that the other six young sows never were! When Fflur had her tummy upset last weekend, Llewelyn patiently stayed with her overnight in the spare cage and as reassurance on the vet trip. the two are quite cuddly with each other.

Big Nerys was his "sex doll", especially at first; she had obviously rather marked seasons, while he rarely chased her sister Nia who Llewelyn preferred to hang out with.

For Taffy, Llewelyn was the protector and the piggy she would stay with at first; the one who would show her the ropes and give the freakiest of my sows the necessary reassurance to settle into her new life.

He was as careful and gentle as a male can be with Taffy's little daughter Telyn when she had her first (very strong) season in the group; it was so lovely to see him giving her a very tender cuddle afterwards as if saying: "Well done, baby! You got it right!" Telyn ("the harp" ) is still VERY vocal about it and I always know when she's coming into season!

Llewelyn quite likes to give Ceri a daily little chase, more so than other girls. While nervous underpiggy Cariad rather spoiled the fun for him by screaming her head off when she was in season, so he ignores her now for the most part - even though she has got used to the procedure and is gaining in confidence.

All in all, Llewelyn is spending much more time with Nia and Taffy, the sheriff and her sidekick, than with the lower ranked sows, although he will care about all of them. He's definitely the patriarch who keeps the girls in line and isn't afraid to break up the occasional handbag showdown!

I have just loved reading about your piggies relationships Wiebke, it sounds like you have a great group, with a very happy boar...... six girlies, bless him. x)

I hope you don't mind me asking, from reading this it seems you have all seven together, can I ask what size house they have?

The reason I ask is I have 3 piggies at the moment, 2 girls and a neutered boar and they are living in a 6ft by 42inch (at it's widest point) c&c cage.

They all get on very well, I have no problems but was considering getting another female and wondered if their house would be big enough as it is? and whether it's a good idea to introduce another female to a happy trio?

Sorry for rambling on and thanks in advance :)
