I've got a boar that's currently a bit lonely, living inside but got some dandruff due to warm conditions in the house :( (even tho I haven't had the heating on since we moved him inside). Now, he was previously housed with another boar but they started fighting so I decided to separate. The boar that I am thinking of putting my male guinea pig back with has had a female guinea pig with him for the last 5 months or so. These are housed outdoors and now would be the best time to put my male back outside with the nice weather. Would anyone recommend me to put them back together outdoors? Thanks!

Hi! Is the lady included or not? If she is, then it is NOT a good idea as it is more than likely that two boars will fight, latest when she comes into season and even more so if they already have a history. if you are planning to just have the two boys living together, it is a toss up as to whether they will get together or not, depending on how well their adult personalities mesh and how bad the fall-out was.

Would you consider getting him a wife of his own? The volunteer/foster system run RSPCA Walsall branch are the most piggy savvy guinea pig rescue for your region where you are guaranteed to not get any nasty surprises (mandatory quarantine and pregnancy watch). http://www.rspca-walsall.org.uk/

PS: Have you had your boy checked for mites or fungal considering the humid hot weather of the last few weeks?

I've had him checked and it's just dandruff but would help by bringing him back outside whilst the weather is nice. I just don't know what type of hutch to get or where abouts to put it in my garden. I also don't know what I'd do in the colder months? :(

Could you please answer my question. Is the other boy you want to introduce him to living with a sow or not? In that case, it won't work. Short term companionship only makes the enusing separation even harder and will also serve to destabilise the bonding of your other boy.

The best way forward would be to find a companion for your single boy. They could live in a 2x4 ft hutch on top of the other if necessary, or you could think about an insulated piggy shed with hutches inside, like some of our members have?

If that is not an option you can at the worst put your single boy in a run or a place where he can interact through the bars/mesh with the other piggies without upsetting their bond. it is not entirely satisfactory, though.

All guinea pigs need winter protection, either by bringing indoors or by insulating any sheds/hutches really well from heat as well as cold or storms/rain.

He is living with a sow yeah. Don't worry I'm going to get another hutch and get a female friend for my male. Don't want to upset any of them! Thank you so much for your advice :)
