Hello everyone! It's Vin back here and I have some great news! I'm getting my guinea pigs this Sunday! :yahoo:

It's been a little while since I've posted here, but in that time I've built my cage, gotten my needed supplies, and have been souring the web for the perfect piggies.

When I came across the add for the ones I'm adopting, I just knew they were perfect. I'm getting two males from a family an hour away that doesn't have time to take care of their guinea pigs anymore. I'm a bit worried though. How will these new piggies adjust?

They'll be in a new cage with new smells, voices, toys, and food. I'm also worried about neglected they have been if their owners don't have time to care for them... :hmm:

Please let me know if you have any tips or suggestions! They are HIGHLY appreciated. Thank you and have a great day!

Hi congratulations on the new arrivals. I would be prepared for potentially long nails that need trimmed, matted fur, maybe in need of a bath. These are things that can happen if people don't have time to care for their piggies.

I would also keep a close eye on them incase they have any illnesses that haven't been picked up on.

Hi and welcome back!

I am sure that you are looking forward to your new boys!

You may find the guides in our New Owners'collection helpful to refresh your memory and learn new stuff. We have been busy writing lots more guides!
There are several that deal with settling in guinea pigs and making friends with them with the help of a spot of piggy whispering as well as understanding their instincts and social behaviours.
There is a guide on boar care, as well as help for spotting illness, links to lists of recommended vets etc.
New Owners' Problem Solver And Information Collection

There are lots more guides at the top of our various Care sections, but you can now find them in better order via 'guinea pig guides' on the top bar; you may be interested in a spot of browsing... ;)
As always, you are of course welcome to ask any questions you may have in our Care sections.

Good luck! I hope that you will post some pictures once your boys have settled in!

Hello Vin
Welcome back!
great guinea pig guides to read up on!
I often use them when something springs to mind and I'm not sure if I'm accurate or not!
Always exciting but nerve wracking getting new pigs but always a friendly forum member ready to help.
Lots of photos appreciated by all!
Janice
