About a month ago, our guinea pig Flequita went to the vet because she had a small chunk of carrot stuck in her throat. In the process of removing it and doing an imaging test, one of her lower front teeth broke. We were on vacation at the time, so a family member took her to the vet, and as a result, our knowledge about what happened is second hand.
About two weeks ago, we took her back to the vet for a follow-up visit. They didn't see any signs of problems but encouraged us to keep an eye on her top front teeth (which were slightly uneven) and her new tooth as it grows in.
While the tooth has been growing steadily, we noticed that it doesn't quite look like the other. It's got a yellowish tinge to it and does not look as thick. Photo attached. She is eating and pooping normally, shows no signs of being in pain, has a normal energy level, etc.
Our questions:
1. Is this normal for a regrown tooth or should it look more like the other that was never broken?
2. Is there any serious risk that should lead us to seek out a vet immediately?
We are currently away from our home city where our normal vet is located. We were planning to do a follow-up with our normal vet in about three weeks when we return, but if needed, we can seek out a vet for immediate attention closer to where we are now.
Thank you in advance!
