Hi all, i have read conflicting info on reed diffusers. Is it safe to have a reed diffuser in the same room as guinea pigs? I am getting my garage converted and the piggies will be moving in there, i have been saving a reed diffuser which i got for my wedding to use in this room but this was before i had guinea pigs. Now ive seen some posts saying reed diffusers are ok and other posts saying they are not. Any help is much appreciated! Thanks

I think it would be ok as long as it’s not too strong smelling. I have one in our downstairs toilet which is in a utility area where the boys stay in the winter, when the door is open you can smell it for a week or so but over at the end of the room where they are you can just smell hay so I don’t think it would bother them. Will there be windows in your garage for ventilation and natural light for them?

Hi, yea its being converted into a room so we are replacing the garage door with a large window :) it was initially intended as a dining room but i have a feeling its going to become a piggie room lol

I was thinking of putting the reeds on the window sill and the piggies hutch will be at the other end of the room facing the window if that makes sense?

Sounds fab! I guess if you go in the room once it’s done/reed diffuser in situ and you can smell it, then they will too. If it smells too strong to you, then it will possibly be too strong to them as well?

I wonder if you can get a carrot scented diffuser :hmm::lol!:

Please ensure that there is no possibility at all of the liquid being spilt/knocked over as I have heard that they can cause chemical burns. Keep a close eye on the pigs too, if they start sniffing or sneezing more, I’d take the diffuser out
