Hi all

Yesterday and this morning I have noticed that Percy has been pooping much less. There were only about 15 this am after I last checked at 9pm last night. The poop looks Ok- perhaps a little dry and some are a bit pointy. He is eating really well- veggies and lots of hay the only thing I’ve changed is that he has had some dried forage ( different Types over the last week) but in fairly small amounts) He has never had dried forage before. I am so worried that I introduced it all too soon to him. Should I take him to the exotic or see how he goes over the weekend? Thanks all. X

Please switch to daily weight checks. Poop output is too far delayed to be a useful indicator of food intake.
Usually a piggy who is pooping less comes about because their hay intake has dropped and syringe feeding could be needed.
The daily weight checks will tell you what is happening in real time.

I would stop the forage for now and see how he goes with weight checks.
You can slowly reintroduce the forage (one type at a time) if things are in fact ok.

Thank you. I am cross with myself because I gave him lots of different types of forage but in small amounts and am blaming myself x

It’s usually overdoing veg which upsets the gut most but some piggies are more sensitive to things than others and you wouldn’t have known. Please don’t blame yourself.
We have seen changes in hay and pellets cause a bit of an upset in some piggies.
As I say, I’d keep an eye on his weight and give him a few days to settle and see what happens

Thank you. He has reacted badly before when I gave him fennel so he may be one of the one sensitive ones. It gives me so much anxiety 😟 when I think it’s something I’ve done! Thanks for your kind words x
