I’ve got four girls all in one cage so I have no idea which one they came from. They’re all acting normal. Eating, drinking, being loud, moving, their weights are fine. The poos are normal texture/consistency, size and shape, just tinted red. They’re not wet and there’s nothing on my hand after touching them, like no redness transferred.

It’s just a slight tint like a reddish brown colour, not like actual blood.

Can food make their poo red? They’ve never had beetroot. We give them red peppers regularly
but I don’t know if they’ve had any recently. I gave the watermelon yesterday. I’ve not been caring for them as I’ve just had an unexpected surgery on my leg and have been really unwell after it so can’t really move. My parents have been doing the cleaning and feeding and water for me. But this also means I can’t get them to the vets on my own and my parents work 9-5 jobs so they won’t be able to this week, my mum has next week off work though so I can go then. Plus I’m not working thanks to my surgery so I can’t really afford it. For some reason I’m only getting £13 a week for sick pay so I’m gonna have to borrow a lot of money if this doesn’t have another explanation.

Any idea what could cause this before I jump to the worst conclusion?
Too much or too little of something in their diet?
Or what kind of health issues could cause it?
Stress?

I’m panicking but trying to stay calm because I could be overthinking it.

Hi, certain food can turn their poops funny colours...my piggy loves beetroot but afterwards she has purple poops...and if she has enough if it purple pee...sometimes it happens with the red lettuce (i can't remember what its called but its green with the red tips) if they're fine in their selves then just keep an eye on them but if you're concerned a just incase trip to the vet is always good...
