Hey guys,

Hope all is well.

Both of my girls go through spells of passing sludge every couple of weeks/once a month it seems. They're on a low calcium diet, their water is properly filtered, no pellets.

I know there are other calcium piggies on this forum and if this info is already somewhere out there, I'm sorry for taking up your time and being a bit of a pest, but is this how it will always be for my pigs? Every couple of weeks, for a day or two, they have to pass painful sludge (they receive icky painkiller to help, but it is still painful), and then it's better again. Wash, rinse, repeat.

I do what I can on my end to not get calcium into their system and to help them when it's time to pass whatever has built up, but can it get worse in the future? Stones, could their bladder need flushing? Is there anything else that can be done for them?

Thank you.

Have they ever had any medical treatment for this?
If the sludge continually builds up that quickly I wonder if a bladder flush would help.

Are they on Cystease or another glucosamine supplement?

Sorry for all of the questions but I know how nasty sludge can be.
When Ruby had this problem she had a bladder flush and afterwards a combination of a very wet (think dripping) diet, filtered water and grain free pellets prevented a reoccurrence.
I know every piggy is different though.
